Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Lifeguard provides a clean and safe swimming environment, along with proper swimming instruction for classes or various levels. Protects patrons and exercises lifesaving techniques when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists the Manager in opening and closing the facility for the season.
  • Provides safe swimming environment; provides life guarding, first aid and safety functions as necessary; may operate rescue motorboat as needed.
  • Performs custodial duties to include cleaning restrooms and bath houses daily; picks up litter around the grounds and parking lots, cleans sinks, shower stalls, toilets and floors.
  • Performs routine maintenance and grounds keeping duties associated with the swimming area as assigned.
  • Assists the manager in testing and maintaining required water quality standards.
  • Demonstrates the ability to exemplify, by his/her actions, the County PRIDE philosophy.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must possess Lifeguard, CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.

Working Environment

Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. May be required to perform swimming rescue and first aid procedures.
