Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing complex maintenance and repair work on our buildings, utility systems, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, adjustments, installations, maintenance, and repairs on buildings, utility systems, and equipment.
  • Operate motorized equipment, requisition materials and supplies, and maintain records.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing, possibly using electronic equipment.
  • Work as a team member with other shops and employees.
  • May be required to perform other tasks, including operation of a motor vehicle, making deliveries, picking up supplies, and other incidental tasks.
  • May provide training and guidance to others.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems, electrical distribution systems, electronics, boilers, painting, and carpentry.
  • Knowledge of building materials, plumbing, and electrical fixtures.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures, HVAC, sanitation, and refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety, fire, and safety regulations.
  • Skills in the use of hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, follow instructions, and estimate materials.
  • Ability to apply proper methods, techniques, and procedures in the maintenance and repair of buildings, building, and utility systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, or sketches.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and use good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with moderate physical demands. The successful candidate will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
