Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer to join our Cedar Rapids design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing multi-chip modules, power amplifiers, and low noise amplifiers. You will work closely with our multi-discipline team to develop cutting-edge products for global markets.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in all phases of product development, including product definition, architecture, system budget, transistor-level circuit design, MCM design, layout/layout supervision, lab debug, and production support.
  • Drive the front-end design and work with a multi-discipline team to develop PA, RF switches, LNA, acoustic filters to achieve optimum module performance for the high volume and fast-paced cellular handset market.
  • Interact with customers to provide Pin I/O, size, performance spec, and suggest solutions.
  • Own floor-planning, including module pinouts, package size, signal flows plan, package technology, link budget, etc.
  • Take the lead on new technology/architecture suggestions with comprehensive and accurate analysis.
  • Drive front-end module design methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Drive the module design review and tapeout.
  • Get involved and support new package technology development.
  • Engage in EDA design tool development.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of RF/microwave fundamentals, including impedance matching, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, circuit stability, and Electromagnetic theory.
  • Solid understanding of module building blocks, including Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, RF Switches, and Couplers, Filters, and Multi-Chip Module.
  • Relevant experience in multi-chip module (MCM), PA, LNA, RF switch design, or passive circuit design, such as integrated passive devices, couplers, BAW/SAW filters, and baluns.
  • Strong circuit simulation skills utilizing Agilent ADS, 2.5/3D EM tools, such as ADS Momentum/EMX, HFSS, and Cadence, and ability to translate between the model, simulation, physical implementation, and measured performance.
  • Basic lab skills in data collection/analysis, lab debug/tuning, and product troubleshooting.
  • A self-starter and team player with strong desire to learn on the job, strong desire and commitment to take product from concept to volume production.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and logic/reasoning skills, capable of breaking down complex problems, setting priorities, reporting progress, and executing to schedule.
  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years' experience or PhD + 3 years.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Good understanding of RF systems and familiarity with wireless standards, including 3GPP cellular 2/3/4/5G/LTE, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth.
  • Solid understanding of device and process technologies.
  • Experience in system architecture, circuit topology, and MCM floorplan.
  • Experience in FEM product development and customer interaction.
  • Good understanding of acoustic filters, such as SAW, BAW filters.
  • Experience in co-sim of multiple technologies, such as digital, analog, and RF circuit.
  • Familiarity with lab instruments, including Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Probe Stations, Noise Figure Analyzers, and Load-pull Tuners.

Skyworks Solutions offers a competitive salary range of $110,600 - $210,600 per year, depending on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
