Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting in the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment. This includes setting up surgical instruments and equipment, as well as preparing patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
Main Responsibilities- Perform necessary setup of the operating room, gathering instruments, equipment, and sterile solutions.
- Test equipment prior to operation to ensure it is in proper working order.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
- Assist in positioning the patient on the operating table and cover with sterile surgical drapes.
- Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during surgery.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and check charts as needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completed an accredited surgical tech program with a certification, or qualify to be grandfathered in prior to 2004.
- Prior experience as an OR Tech/GI Tech.
- Current CPR certification and capable of initiating cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in times of emergency.
- Knowledge of principles of sterile technique.

This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with others, remain upright on the feet, and move about on foot to accomplish tasks. The individual must also be able to bend, extend, and apply pressure to objects with their fingers and palm.
