Job Summary

The Instructional Staff I for Barbering reports to the Director of Correctional Education or designee. This position is responsible for teaching barbering skills, providing professional leadership in curriculum development, and participating in professional development activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach barbering skills in a classroom and lab setting
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum
  • Participate in professional development activities
  • Provide leadership in the development of curriculum
Requirements
  • Associate degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting agency
  • Three years of recent experience working and/or teaching in the barbering field
  • TDLR Barbers license
  • Experience and/or certifications may be substituted for a portion of the educational requirement
Working Conditions

This position will teach at the Mark Stiles Unit. The teaching assignment is Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. This position requires the ability to pass and maintain security clearance.
