Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for performing structural inspection and reporting of in-service highway bridges, including routine bridge inspection and fracture critical bridge inspection. You will also be responsible for structural load rating of in-service highway bridges in accordance with the AASHTO MBE.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural inspection and reporting of in-service highway bridges, including routine bridge inspection and fracture critical bridge inspection.
  • Experience with structural load rating of in-service highway bridges in accordance with the AASHTO MBE.
  • Structural design activities will also be performed on transportation projects.
  • Perform structural and civil engineering analysis and design various types of multi-material structures by applying in-depth knowledge and theory of mechanics of materials, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel design.
  • Responsibilities will include producing quality designs and plans, and interpreting plans from other engineering-related disciplines (survey, utility, etc.) or firms.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering is required.
  • EIT is required.
  • Completion of FHWA-NHI- Course Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges is required.
  • FHWA/NBIS qualified Routine Bridge Inspection Team Leader is preferred.
  • FHWA/NBIS qualified Fracture Critical Bridge Inspection Team Leader is preferred.
  • Rope climbing experience/training is preferred.
  • 4+ years of bridge inspection/design experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT design manuals bridge design and plan preparation.
  • Knowledge of MicroStation and typical structural design and analysis software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use resources efficiently and effectively, take initiative, and be highly motivated.
