We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Compassionate Care Specialist to join our team at The Arc of Prince George's County.

About the Role

This is a part-time position working 8 hours per week, with normal working hours/days from Tuesday to Saturday. As a Community Companion, you will be responsible for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and facilitating their participation in community activities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Community Integration and Participation: Provide transportation to appointments or activities, assist with developing safety skills and daily living skills, encourage individual choice-making and socialization, promote regular exercise and healthy lifestyles, and coordinate worship supports.
  2. Personal Care: Assist with personal grooming and hygiene, dispense medications as necessary, and provide support with budgetary management and financial planning.
  3. Communication and Documentation: Use effective communication with individuals, family members, and other stakeholders, document required records and reports, and submit paperwork by prescribed due dates.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and one year of related experience working with children or adults in a care-giving setting.
  • A good driving record, reliable vehicle, and current Maryland Driver's license.
  • The ability to successfully complete training requirements of The Arc.
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated care-giving abilities.
