Position Overview:

Job Summary:

The Clinical Respiratory Care Specialist applies scientific principles to address clinical challenges in respiratory therapy. Working collaboratively within a healthcare team, this role involves executing a variety of procedures aimed at meeting the respiratory needs of patients across diverse age groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to identify respiratory care requirements and provide informed recommendations in line with established protocols.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Perform advanced assessments and therapeutic interventions for patients requiring respiratory support, ensuring proper documentation of all procedures.
  • Complete necessary educational requirements and maintain competencies within specified timeframes.
  • Facilitate seamless transitions for patients to appropriate follow-up services, providing education to patients and their families regarding respiratory health.
  • Train and mentor other respiratory care professionals, nursing staff, and students on patient care and respiratory services.
Qualifications:

  • Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, or sleep medicine
  • Licensure: State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License required upon hire
  • Certification: National Board for Respiratory Care Registry required upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days
