Orthopedic Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ortho Tech to join our team at Carle Health. As an Ortho Tech, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our orthopedic team.
Key Responsibilities- Care for and assist patients as appropriate, bringing patient care issues to the providers' attention.
- Clean and stock exam rooms, ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Obtain and document patient intake, including health history, vital signs, and health risk factors.
- Assess patient condition via MORSE fall scale or Oswestry pain scale as appropriate.
- Provide patient education materials and communicate physician advice/instructions to patients.
- Obtain patient consent for care/in-office procedures.
- Set up and assist with office surgeries and procedures, including US injections, C-arm injections, and fracture closed reductions.
- Cast and splint application, removal, and patient education.
- Dressing changes and applications with patient education.
- Suture and staple removal.
- Fits patients with boots, braces, and other DME items as ordered by the provider.
- Prepares injections.
- Obtains lab, imaging, op note, and office visits from outside facilities.
- Places orders for physical therapy, imaging, lab work, etc., as ordered by the provider.
- Works closely with the provider, nursing, and other staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
- Previous experience in the medical field, preferably in orthopedic care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and promote a positive facility image.
- Flexibility to accommodate changing demands and work schedules.
