Job Overview

The CNC Operations Supervisor is a pivotal role within ALIGN PRECISION, reporting directly to the Director of Operations. This position is tasked with overseeing CNC machining processes and collaborating with various departments including Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality to ensure operational goals are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track and analyze Key Performance Indicators related to Safety, Quality, Production, and Cost within the CNC division, ensuring that targets are achieved and continuous enhancement is prioritized.
  • Manage the Critical Material Escalation list to identify delivery risks, expediting jobs as necessary and addressing resource limitations and process inefficiencies in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and the Director of Operations to assess shop capacity and develop strategies to alleviate capacity challenges when necessary.
  • Evaluate the performance of CNC operators, providing guidance and coaching to enhance productivity.
  • Lead the Tier 1 Gemba meeting and actively participate in the Tier 2 Gemba meeting, providing updates and insights.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to formulate a plan for apprentice development and establish a cross-training matrix for products and processes, ensuring effective execution.
  • Oversee daily production activities to guarantee that projects are progressing according to schedule.
  • Assist operators in troubleshooting quality issues at the machine level.
  • Support operators in conducting root cause analyses and formulating effective countermeasures.
  • Encourage operators to innovate and suggest improvements in their workflows and manufacturing processes.
  • Address personnel issues as they arise.
  • Manage attendance and time clock discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to spearhead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, capacity, and capability while minimizing lead times, cycle times, and manufacturing costs.
  • Collaborate with industrial and process engineers to facilitate SMED activities and implement setup time reductions.
  • Promote and sustain 5S practices within the CNC area.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including other Production Managers, Engineering Managers, Program Managers (NPI), Quality Managers, Production Control Supervisors, Controllers, and the Director of HR.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Extensive experience in CNC precision component machining.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a related field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven leadership capabilities in driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
