Clinical Assistant

This Clinical Assistant position offers a unique opportunity to combine administrative duties with direct patient care, contributing to the efficient operation of an outpatient specialty clinic while positively impacting patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate would be detail-oriented, organized, possess strong communication skills, be a team player, and demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients.
Responsibilities- Communicate with patients to gather information about medical history, concerns, requests for medication refills, or symptoms.
- Provide clear instructions to patients regarding the next steps in their care plan under the guidance of the registered nurse or direct supervisor.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
- Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare professionals, including documenting and relaying time-sensitive messages.
- Accurately document patient interactions and care recommendations under the guidance of the assigned registered nurse or direct supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of medical records to support the continuity of care.
- Adhere to organizational policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements related to patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay current on best practices.
- Perform clerical duties, including scanning and indexing paper documents into the electronic medical record system.
- Ensure proper organization and storage of electronic documents for easy retrieval.
- Create encounters, input relevant information into the encounter forms accurately and efficiently.
- Record and enter orders into the electronic medical system as directed by the registered nurse or direct supervisor.
- Verify order accuracy and completeness before entry.
- Scan test results into the EMR system.
- Upload Holter and/or pacer reports into the EMR system.
- Welcome patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone.
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
- Prepare patients for healthcare visits by directing them to the exam room, obtaining vital signs, performing medication reconciliation, and verifying patient medical information.
- Assist in the care of assigned patients as directed by appropriate staff.
- Ensure that patients receive appropriate competent, and quality clinical care and that customer service meets the patient's expectations.
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Communicate all pertinent information, including findings, problems, concerns, or ideas to the assigned nurse, utilizing appropriate lines of authority, in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure all related reports, labs, and imaging are available within the patient's charts prior to visit.
- Perform tasks efficiently when putting charts together, stocking/cleaning rooms, stocking linens, placing Holter monitors, performing blood draws, and assisting with patient care.
- Orient and mentor new staff members.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, and education requirements as appropriate.
- Be flexible and willing to assist with other duties within the clinic.
