Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Social Service Worker I to join our team at the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing essential services to families and vulnerable adults, promoting their self-sufficiency and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate allegations of child abuse, neglect, and/or dependency, and conduct thorough assessments to determine the best course of action.
  • Meet with family members, school staff, and other interested parties to gather information and develop a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
  • Work closely with families to create and implement case plans that address specific issues and promote positive outcomes.
  • Make referrals to community resources and provide support to families in need.
  • Enter case information into our database and complete court reports as necessary.
  • Provide testimony in administrative and judicial hearings, and work collaboratively with community partners to achieve shared goals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Good time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations.
