Key Responsibilities:
  • As a Paramedic at Paramedic Services of Illinois, you will play a vital role in our team, responding to emergency situations and providing essential medical care to those in need. Your main duties will include:
  • Responding swiftly to emergency calls and evaluating the medical requirements of patients.
  • Administering suitable medical treatments and interventions in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Exhibiting the ability to safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, healthcare facilities, residences, and other locations.
  • Effectively communicating with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other emergency responders to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
  • Completing and maintaining accurate records and documentation regarding transport, equipment inspections, supply usage incidents, and other forms of documentation inherent in operations.
  • Demonstrating, through attendance and documentation, compliance with PSI and/or the Department of Health requirements for continuing education and licensure.
  • Maintaining a clean and complete uniform, personal hygiene, and a professional, pleasant, and courteous demeanor towards all individuals encountered while on duty.
  • Inspecting and promptly reporting any damage, deficiencies, safety issues, or other concerns related to ambulances, company vehicles, equipment, and supplies, or any other matters relevant to the safe and efficient operation of the company; assisting with vehicle and equipment maintenance and station upkeep.
  • Participating in public education, public relations, public health safety programs, emergency medical service training, fire training, fire prevention activities, fire suppression, rescue, extrication, hazardous material situations, demonstrations, instructing, and any other activities that would benefit the company, its contracting communities, or the general public.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current/Valid Illinois Driver's License of appropriate classification
  • Successful completion of a Paramedic program and maintenance of a current/valid Illinois Department of Public Health License
  • Ability to fulfill continuing education and testing requirements in the assigned system
  • State of Illinois Firefighter Certifications (for Firefighter applicants)
  • Successful completion of a professional and criminal background check
  • Passing pre-employment testing including a Fit for Duty Physical, Drug Screening, Agility, and Lifting Evaluation
