Job Overview

Ministerial Role

The Rector serves as the visible leader and unifying force within the parish community, entrusted with the mission of Christ. To achieve this mission, the Rector collaborates with selected individuals, whether clerics, religious, or laypersons, delegating various responsibilities.


Positions within the parish are designed to support the Rector's ministry in specific capacities as detailed in the job description. Consequently, the individual in this role will work closely with the Rector, assisting in the execution of his ministry and engaging in the Church's mission.

Position Summary:

The primary duty involves the overall maintenance of the Cathedral grounds, including the church, hall, and rectory. Responsibilities encompass light maintenance and custodial tasks, along with special projects and additional duties as assigned. The Facility Services Technician will report directly to the Director of Development/Facility Operations regarding responsibilities, schedules, and special tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Duties:

  • Maintaining outdoor areas to ensure cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Replacing air filters as needed.
  • Painting surfaces as required.
  • Changing light bulbs.
  • Conducting minor repairs.

Custodial Duties:

  • Performing mopping, sweeping, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Emptying trash and recycling containers.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.

Event Support:

  • Assisting with setup and cleanup for events.
  • Managing the opening and closing of facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with cleaning practices and procedures.
  • General knowledge of tools and their usage.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Effective communication skills with the public.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Bilingual abilities are advantageous but not required.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications:


Experience:

Preferred experience of 1 year, though training is available.

Licenses/Certifications:

Must obtain certification in Diocese of Austin EIM within 60 days of employment and maintain it throughout the employment period.
