Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $36.00 per hour. In addition to competitive pay, you will also enjoy:

  • Shift Premiums: 2nd shift ($3.00/hr), 3rd shift ($4.00/hr), Weekends ($3.00/hr)

Job Description

As a Diesel Mechanic/Technician I, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on our fleet of vehicles. You will work independently, using your expertise to diagnose problems and complete maintenance tasks. Your skills and experience will be recognized, and you will be trusted to set an example and informally mentor others.

You will have the opportunity to work on various types of equipment, not just one manufacturer, and learn about our vehicle maintenance processes and cutting-edge technology. We value safety and reliability above all else, ensuring that you have the tools and support needed to do the job right.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Perform routine maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment
  • Diagnose and repair major components, including engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Keep your work area clean and safe
  • Use Penske's tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in diagnosis and troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials); OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experience using all tools of the trade, including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools
  • A valid driver's license; CDL preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
