Job Overview:


Join a prestigious academic healthcare institution as an MRI Technologist within the MRI Department.

As an MRI Technologist, your primary responsibility will be to conduct MRI examinations for various patient demographics, including outpatients, inpatients, and pediatric cases.

You will collaborate with the MRI Imaging Center Leader to ensure seamless operations across multiple imaging facilities.

In this capacity, you will serve as a subject matter expert, guiding fellow technologists and students in MR scanning techniques across diverse categories such as neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, abdominal, breast, pediatric, cardiac, and MR-guided procedures.

Your role will involve reviewing patient safety protocols prior to examinations and ensuring all procedures are conducted safely.

You will also assess MRI requisitions for clinical accuracy before presenting them to radiologists for optimal imaging protocols.

The MRI Technologist will evaluate images for quality and compliance before submission for interpretation, executing imaging protocols under the direction of the radiologist.

Regular participation in departmental meetings will be expected, where you will discuss enhancements to procedures, quality of examinations, and patient throughput, as well as provide coverage for the imaging team leader in their absence.


Key Responsibilities:
Conduct MR scans in accordance with established competencies.


Demonstrate knowledge of and apply appropriate care protocols to meet the physical and psychological needs of patients across all age groups.

Review requisitions to confirm the accuracy of ordered exams and ensure appropriate time allocations.

Coordinate examinations requiring direct radiologist involvement and assess completed exams for quality assurance and correct formatting.

Communicate with radiologists regarding any images that require repetition and the necessary technical adjustments.


Ensure accurate data entry into the Radiology Information System (RIS), verifying that all exams are properly documented and confirmed.


Maintain accurate records in the patient exam log, regularly auditing and archiving data in relevant systems.

Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate managerial staff.


Provide education to fellow technologists on PACS and assist with RIS updates and modifications.

Foster effective relationships with physician leadership within the MRI section.

Act as a primary contact for inquiries related to MRI procedures and concerns.

Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, radiologists, and Imaging Team Leaders to prioritize and manage daily workloads effectively.

Ensure the safety of patients and non-radiology personnel in the vicinity of the MRI scanner.

Engage in ongoing education to maintain necessary accreditation.

Conduct daily quality assurance scans to verify system functionality.

Confirm that routine preventive maintenance is conducted as scheduled.

Regularly inspect RF coils for damage and report any necessary repairs.

Qualifications:


Formal training in MR scanning with the ability to apply knowledge of physics and system operations to achieve high-quality imaging.

Proven competency in performing high-quality MR examinations and educating peers on MRI equipment usage.

Progressively advanced experience as an MRI technologist is preferred.

Technical Proficiencies:
MRA, Peripheral imaging, post-processing workstations, Cardiac, Pediatric, Neuroradiology, abdominal, musculoskeletal, thoracic, procedural, and breast imaging.

Knowledgeable in PACS, EPIC, and Radiant systems.

Current ARRT (MR) registry required.

Advanced certification (MR) from a recognized board is preferred.

Current CPR certification is mandatory.
