This role is designated for the second shift.

As a Sealing Technician, your primary duties will include:
  • Applying various sealing techniques such as fillet and fay sealing, cap sealing, and brush coating for major assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Utilizing materials like scotchcast and leveling compounds, while adhering to process specifications and quality control standards.
  • Engaging in data collection activities to monitor sealer progression and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Conducting necessary rework, fabrication, and functional testing during or after the sealing process.
  • Employing measuring instruments to fulfill work assignments accurately.

Reporting and Investigation:
Identify and report any job-related challenges, including errors in assembly procedures or tool usage.

Assist in maintaining a smooth manufacturing workflow by providing training and support to colleagues across various classification levels.

Document any discrepancies in accordance with established specifications and procedures.


Functional Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual and auditory leak checks in aircraft sections as part of pressure/vacuum testing.
  • Apply sealing compounds to integral fuel cells and wing section components.
  • Execute small part sealing or large structure sealing tasks as required.

Qualifications:
Requirements:
  • Possession of an active DoD security clearance or willingness to obtain one.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and alternative work weeks.
  • Ability to navigate concrete floors, uneven surfaces, and confined spaces, as well as perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving parts.
  • Successful completion of the WorkKeys Assessment or provision of verification of passing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with blueprints, specifications, and work orders.
  • Proficiency in data gathering and documentation related to sealing processes.
  • Capability to utilize measuring instruments effectively.

Kansas Tax Credit:

Joining Spirit AeroSystems' Kansas team may qualify you for a state of Kansas Aviation tax credit, potentially amounting to $5,000 over five years.
