The primary responsibility of a Full-Time Behavioral Support Educator is to execute educational programs and behavioral interventions for children, adolescents, and young adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other related challenges. - Maintain a comprehensive understanding of best practices in teaching students with autism and related disorders.
- Implement and uphold efficient record-keeping practices.
- Analyze data to inform instructional strategies and program assessments.
- Exhibit proficiency in subject matter content.
- Differentiate instruction to cater to individual student strengths and weaknesses.
- Utilize effective teaching principles in instructional delivery.
- Participate in scheduled meetings for professional development and preparation.
- Prepare and submit detailed weekly lesson plans that outline objectives and methodologies.
- Adhere to the educational curriculum and methodologies established by supervising professionals.
- Recognize signs of student distress or abuse and respond appropriately according to established protocols.
- Employ suitable materials and technology to address diverse learning needs.
- Create an engaging environment that encourages active student participation in the learning process.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
- Collaborate with other professionals and families to enhance educational outcomes.
- Engage in ongoing professional growth through training and educational opportunities.
- Conduct self-assessments to identify areas for professional development.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct in all interactions with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Fulfill all professional responsibilities and maintain required documentation.
- Support school improvement initiatives through active involvement in community activities.
- Ensure that student progress and achievement are consistent and appropriate.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervising professionals.
- Adhere to the established work schedule.
- Follow all school policies as outlined in the employee handbook.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with special needs populations, particularly those with autism and related disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Prevention Crisis Management.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Enrollment in a master's program in ABA, psychology, special education, or a related field.
- Flexibility in teaching areas with multiple certifications or experiences.
- Experience with verbal behavior programs.
Certifications:
RBT certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This position may require light physical work, including the ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
