Modeling and Simulation Engineer

The primary objective of this role is to conduct modeling and simulation activities that support the Air Force by applying engineering and scientific methodologies to facilitate complex, precise, and technically sound model-based evaluations of adversarial components, nodes, networks, and/or systems.

This position is in alignment with operational directives from clients, including Combatant Commands. Only candidates who fulfill the specified qualifications are encouraged to consider this opportunity. To be eligible for this role, applicants must meet the fundamental educational and/or specialized experience criteria.

For DR-I:

Your application must illustrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service or comparable in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience encompass a solid understanding of methodologies and practices in the development of modeling and simulation capabilities, along with recommendations for enhancing effectiveness and efficiency; familiarity with testing or evaluation methodologies; proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++ to devise solutions for analytical challenges; and experience in employing systems thinking concepts and both quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.


For DR-II:

Your application must illustrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DR-I/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or comparable in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience include extensive knowledge of testing and evaluation of military capabilities; application of theories, concepts, principles, methods, hardware, software, and practices related to radar systems, satellites, and/or air domain command and control networks; proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C++ to create analytical solutions; and experience in developing empirical models or simulations to enhance operational capabilities.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(The following will be utilized to assist in the evaluation and ranking of qualified candidates.)

Knowledge of engineering methodologies sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to challenges and provide technical guidance and direction in support of radar systems, satellites, or air domain command and control networks.

Ability to collaborate or contribute individually across disciplines and organizational boundaries to achieve and/or enhance organizational effectiveness.

Knowledge of military operations in the air and space domains, including radar, command and control, and sensors.

Ability to address critical technical challenges that necessitate both innovation and careful consideration of engineering principles.

Ability to analyze and resolve routine to moderately complex issues within the assigned area, utilizing established methodologies and processes.

Ability to implement critical thinking in selecting, interpreting, and adapting established scientific principles.

Ability to prepare and deliver technical documentation and presentations to a diverse audience that includes military personnel at various levels, industry specialists, academics, and peers.
