About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist II to join our surgical team at UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.
  • Has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
  • Participates in collaborative review of pertinent patient information for accuracy of procedure and associated factors influencing preparedness for procedure.
  • Assists in circulating duties, obtaining additional instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary while the surgical procedure is in progress.
  • Monitors conditions in the operating room and constantly assesses the needs of the patient and surgical team.
  • Strives to enhance personal technical and clinical competence in all job-related duties.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited surgical technology program
  • Certified through a national certifying body
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Customer/patient-focused
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree or higher
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
