The Department of the Interior is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Mail and File Clerk in the Office of the Secretary. This position is responsible for maintaining correspondence files, official Departmental legislative history files, and supply rooms, as well as preparing conference rooms and processing routine office mail.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain electronic and physical filing systems for correspondence and legislative history files.
- Maintain supply rooms, prepare conference rooms, and complete large collating and copying projects.
- Process incoming and outgoing routine office mail, including hand-carrying special materials to other agencies and offices.
- Utilize the legislative tracking system to ensure accurate collection, processing, and referral of legislative issues and proposals.
- Drive the Director or others to meetings on Capitol Hill or at other government agencies.
- Maintain daily trip logs and prepare monthly vehicle management reports.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Background/suitability investigation/determination.
- Direct deposit of federal payments.
- Submission of all required documents and a completed questionnaire.
- Selective Service registration (for male applicants born after December 31, 1959).
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Specialized experience: One year of experience in managing electronic file systems, maintaining daily schedules, and developing spreadsheets for tracking congressional actions.
- Education: Completion of one full year of graduate-level education or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.
- Combination of education and experience: A qualifying combination of specialized experience and post-high school education in excess of the first 36 semester hours.
