Probation Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Probation Officer to join our team at the County Of Coweta. As a Probation Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring public safety and providing support to offenders in our community.

• Supervise offenders to ensure compliance with court-ordered obligations, including community service, restitution, and treatment programs.
• Conduct home, work, and community visits to monitor offender behavior and provide guidance and support.
• Arrest and transport probation violators in a safe and legal manner.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records, preparing reports as required by the State.
• Act as a liaison between the court, law enforcement, and community agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
• Participate in required meetings and training sessions to stay current on best practices and policies.

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field.
• Georgia State Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement Training or Basic Probation or Parole certification.
• Valid driver's license in the State of Georgia with a favorable driving history.
• No previous history of POST disciplinary action.
• Favorable background history as determined by review of local, State, and Federal records.

This position requires occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and regular sitting, speaking, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel. Work is performed in a moderately noisy location, and the employee must be able to prepare and analyze written or computer data and observe general surroundings and activities.
