The Cost Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial activities linked to manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for maintaining precise cost analysis and reporting, providing essential insights to facilitate informed decision-making. Key responsibilities include monitoring financial transactions related to procurement, production, inventory management, and distribution processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for inventory valuation.
- Calculate product costs, encompassing direct labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
- Lead the planning, reporting, and analysis of standard product costing, updating standards as necessary and assessing potential impacts.
- Promote ongoing financial enhancements and implement process controls as required.
- Collaborate effectively across various departments to provide cost accounting support and address inventory-related challenges.
- Work with Operations and Engineering teams to ensure the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform account reconciliations and analyses, with a particular focus on inventory reconciliation and cost of goods sold.
- Investigate and document reasons for significant variances, including assessments of purchase price variance, revaluation, repairs, and scrap.
- Utilize an ERP system to efficiently manage and analyze financial data.
Qualifications and Skills:
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with fully integrated ERP systems, preferably JDE.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Experience with large ERP systems, preferably JDE.
- Over 10 years of experience in cost accounting.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting: Less than 15% of the time.
- Standing: 15% to 40% of the time.
