In this capacity, you will support various stages of project development, including architectural design, documentation, and construction oversight.

The Junior Architect will play a pivotal role in architectural design, documentation, and construction management; conducting feasibility and conceptual studies; generating 2D and 3D visualizations; ensuring that all projects align with client requirements and budget constraints while adhering to Crawford Architects' standards and objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
The Junior Architect will assist senior architects and project managers with the following:

  • Analyze and formulate strategies for architectural design, design development, and documentation.
  • Develop, modify, and review drawings in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Examine architectural documents from developers for compliance with design standards.
  • Ensure documentation for all project phases adheres to QA/QC and Best Practice Standards, applying appropriate QA/QC methods throughout.
  • Interpret design intent and conduct product and code research to create technical documents.
  • Complete feasibility and conceptual studies.
  • Engage in feasibility studies, conceptual design, programming, and master planning.
  • Provide construction administration services, overseeing project completion.
  • Develop As-Built drawing sets for client delivery.
  • Create digital renderings and 3D modeling presentations/design drawings.
  • Coordinate project information among clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and construction teams, addressing inquiries and providing solutions.
  • Prepare client presentations and participate in interviews.
  • Mentor and guide graduate designers in resolving technical and design detail challenges following established standards.

Qualifications:
Education:
An accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree or a Master of Architecture (MArch) is preferred. An Architecture License is required.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in architectural practice and/or architectural design/documentation while working towards licensure.

Essential Skills:
The ideal candidate should possess strong creative and technical thinking abilities, along with effective verbal, written, and graphic communication skills. Additional requirements include:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts, including commonly used standards, practices, and procedures within the profession.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices, including USGBC/LEED, with LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Familiarity with building regulations, life safety codes, design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing precise technical plans.
  • Strong creative and technical thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent presentation and graphic communication skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both graphically and verbally.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid administrative and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work within budgetary constraints while delivering high-quality service to clients.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
