Position Overview

Are you a collaborative professional eager to advance your career in Bridge Assessment? Popli Design Group (PDG) is on the lookout for a Lead Inspector to join our dynamic and skilled team.

As the Lead Inspector for Bridge Assessment, your primary responsibility will be to assess and document the condition of bridges and various structures. This role involves producing detailed condition reports using agency-specific software or other approved formats. You will also coordinate with an Assistant Lead Inspector (ALI) to ensure inspections are completed promptly while offering guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Strong communication skills are essential as you will interact with team members, clients, and subcontractors, ensuring clear and effective exchanges of information throughout the inspection process. A dedication to delivering high-quality work that adheres to technical standards is crucial. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in bridge assessment, preferably with organizations such as NYSDOT, TBTA, Port Authority of NY&NJ, NYSTA, or NJDOT. Additionally, candidates should possess a valid NYS PE license or NJ PE license with the ability to transfer between states.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and document the condition of bridges and other structures.
  • Generate condition reports using agency-specific software or other formats.
  • Coordinate with an ALI to ensure timely completion of inspections and mentor junior staff.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and personnel from clients and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document bridge conditions clearly and concisely.
  • Commitment to delivering quality work that meets technical guidelines.
  • Recent experience in bridge assessment with NYSDOT, TBTA, Port Authority of NY&NJ, NYSTA, NJDOT, or similar entities.

Experience, Education, and Certification

  • NYS PE license or NJ PE license with the ability to transfer between states.
  • NHI Bridge Safety Inspection Course or NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Workshop.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a work vehicle.

Work Environment

  • Combination of professional office setting and fieldwork.
  • Fieldwork requires adaptability to various weather conditions and natural environments.
  • Travel to project sites is necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically capable of performing field inspection tasks, such as carrying or climbing ladders, wading in streams, working near traffic, and working at heights.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer are required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Salary Description

$110,000 - $185,000
