Job PurposeThe Dental Assistant will play a vital role in assisting the dentist in providing high-quality dental care to patients. This role will also promote Familia Dental's culture and mission by providing exceptional patient service and promoting a positive work environment.
Responsibilities- Welcome and escort patients in a professional and friendly manner from the reception area to and from the treatment areas.
- Ensure treatment rooms are equipped and stocked with inventory and reorder when necessary.
- Take and record patient medical and dental histories and vital signs, blood pressure, and pulse.
- Document and chart all dental procedures performed during each patient visit per dentist's instructions and legal requirements.
- Take and develop dental diagnostic x-rays.
- Pour and base diagnostic models and fabricate temporary restorations - as allowed by state law.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials, and assist the dentist during dental procedures.
- Effectively provide dental education and information to patients to ensure patient awareness of dental health and oral hygiene strategies.
- Notify the Office Manager of equipment trouble or general safety concerns.
- Attend and participate in morning huddles, chart reviews, and regular office meetings.
- Recognize and be sensitive to patients' emotions.
- Understand and follow company policy and procedures.
- Understand and follow state and federal laws related to a dental office.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Exceptional customer/patient service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
- Detail-oriented.
- Able to carry out written and verbal instructions.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Meet state requirements for DA duties, continuing education, or license; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate.
- Dental assisting experience is preferred, but not required.
- Experience working within healthcare or a related field is strongly preferred.
Office Hours:
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturday, 9 AM to 4 PM.
Part-Time:
2-3 days per week (up to 30 hours per week). Full days or half-day shifts are available. Available to work Saturdays when needed.
