Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled PLC Controls Engineer to join our team at Heil Environmental. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation systems using programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup, programming, testing, and implementation of computer control systems.
  • Design, specification, programming, simulation, and testing of controls systems.
  • Develop a computerized predictive and preventative maintenance program.
  • Create and modify automation cells HMI screens and diagnose and troubleshoot automatically controlled industrial HVAC and AMU.
  • Manage projects related to the launch of Automated Robotic and PLC controlled manufacturing cells with seam tracking arc welding experience.
  • PLC logic and programming with various PLCs, SCADA programming, and configuration of software packages.
  • Develop new processes for cost reduction and manpower optimization.
  • Take a leadership role for controls issues and implement error-proofing to prevent downtime.
  • Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff and trades personnel.
  • Interact with suppliers on new model tooling, re-processing, and equipment kits.
  • Determine the root cause of downtime and implement error-proofing.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree with a focus on Industrial Controls, Electrical Controls, or advanced Electronics.
  • 3+ years' experience accompanied by a Bachelor's degree or 1+ years' experience accompanied by a Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of plant manufacturing processes related to assembly, fabrication, machining, or welding.
  • Ability to program PLCs, VSD, motor controls, develop and read instrumentation diagrams, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Experience with PLC logic and programming, SCADA programming, and configuration of software packages.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD software for Architectural, MEP, and Electrical schematics.
  • Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft Suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Knowledge in electrical build areas, including panel wiring, debug of automated equipment, and AGV transfer system controls.
  • Experience using proximity sensors, sensor signals, and VFDs.
  • Ability to travel domestically 10-15% of the time for supplier assessments, training, and capital equipment reviews.
  • Team building skills, prioritization skills, forward-looking, and good troubleshooting skills.
