Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team and ensuring our patients receive the best care possible.

  • Providing Patient Care

You will assist our clinicians in gathering information relevant to each patient's visit and condition, demonstrating effective communication skills through various modalities including phone and in-person interactions.

Effective Communication

As a Medical Assistant, you will interact with patients, fellow caregivers, and external partners to deliver high-quality patient satisfaction. You must protect patient confidentiality and handle Protected Health Information (PHI) securely.

Team Collaboration

Our medical assistants work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to coordinate patient care. Your attention to detail and follow-through are crucial in providing excellent care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education and Certification

Either successful completion of a Medical Assistant program (with certification provided upon hire), one year of Medical Assistant experience (verified upon hire), or current RN/LPN licensure in the state is required. Additionally, you must hold Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Professional manner, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential in your role as a Medical Assistant.

Computer Skills

You should possess basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry, as well as proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
