Inpatient Behavioral Health Nurse Manager Job Description">

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Manager to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Nurse Manager, you will be responsible for leading the inpatient mental health unit, overseeing nursing practice, and ensuring excellent patient care.

Job Summary: The Nurse Manager will be responsible for planning, assigning, and evaluating the work of nursing personnel. They will also be involved in performance measures, customer/patient satisfaction, and safety initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, assign, and evaluate the work of nursing personnel
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
  3. Mentor and supervise nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  5. Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and quality of care

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Minimum 2 years of specialized nursing experience in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire nursing staff
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions
