Position Summary

This pivotal role reports to the Zone Controller and has a dotted line to the Global Head of Internal Controls. It demands an independent thinker with leadership capabilities, a strategic mindset, and a proactive attitude. Key collaborators in this role include the VP of Internal Audit, external auditors, and business and finance leaders within the Zone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the zone's SOX compliance initiatives by working closely with local controllership teams, business leaders, process owners, and both internal and external audit teams.
  • Ensure effective monitoring and coordination with local SOX process owners to achieve satisfactory SOX testing results.
  • Promote SOX compliance throughout the zone, providing education, consultation, evaluation, and advice to process owners, while updating internal SOX controls and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain a robust and current internal control environment for the designated zone.
  • Oversee the quarterly SOX certification process for the zone.
  • Facilitate, coordinate, and compile necessary information and documentation for SOX testers (both internal and external).
  • Manage and optimize the SOX management software (AuditBoard).
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing internal controls, including the implementation of systems, tools, and other activities to establish yourself as a trusted advisor and strategic leader within the organization.
  • Draft, update, train, and communicate new accounting and control policies relevant to the region.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in technology, financial, and operational SOX compliance.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, audit, finance, business, information systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with a Big Four firm or similar public client-service assurance/advisory/SOX roles.
  • Relevant certifications such as CIA, CISA, CPA/CA, or other applicable credentials.
  • Strong understanding of services/systems common in large-scale public technology/e-commerce firms (including SAP, Oracle & Hyperion).
  • Awareness of current and emerging industry trends, regulations, and frameworks (e.g., COSO).
  • Experience with GAAP and PCAOB audit standards and SEC reporting is essential.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, as this role involves regular interaction with senior executives.
  • Proven track record in developing and nurturing high-performing teams to tackle complex challenges within large organizations.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, with potential travel requirements of up to 40%.
  • Multilingual abilities are advantageous.
