About the RoleThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long-term care settings, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles and apply them to resident care in the relevant clinical setting.
- Practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilize age-specific standards related to the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per the care plan.
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status and provide necessary care.
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergent situations.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Associate degree in practical nursing is preferred.
- If the position requires IV therapy/management skills, graduation from a Board-approved AASPN program where IV therapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required.
- Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.
- Currently holds an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with State Nursing board and/or possesses multi-state licensure privileges.
