Position Overview:
The University of Wisconsin is committed to enhancing the understanding of human development, disabilities, and neurodegenerative conditions throughout life. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a vital role within the Developmental Disabilities and Genetics Clinical Services at the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). This position involves delivering diagnostic and therapeutic services to the Communication Aids and Systems Clinic (CASC) and other associated clinics as required.
Key Responsibilities:
The SLP will be responsible for:
- 60% Assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with speech, language, auditory, communicative, and swallowing disorders.
- 20% Implementing and overseeing speech therapy interventions for patients.
- 10% Maintaining and updating patient medical records with treatment plans and progress in line with departmental standards.
- 5% Creating and conducting training sessions, educational programs, and counseling services for caregivers, professionals, and students.
- 5% Contributing to the core functions of UCEDD, including training, research, dissemination of best practices, and demonstration of exemplary services.

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
Experience:
Required:
- Proficiency in utilizing a variety of low and high technology augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
- Clinical expertise in evaluating and treating individuals with disabilities requiring AAC.
Preferred:
- Experience with diverse populations needing AAC, including children and adults with complex disabilities.
- Background in conducting speech and language assessments for children with various developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary teamwork and experience in a Maternal and Child Health (MCH) funded training program such as LEND.
Licensure:
ASHA CCC-SLP - Certification in Speech Language Pathology is mandatory.
Work Environment:
This position is full-time and requires on-site presence at the designated campus location.
