Job Summary

At the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, we are seeking a highly skilled Electric Metering Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our energy metering systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electric Metering System Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of our electric metering systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and providing accurate energy flow information.
  • Loss Compensation and Instrument Transformer Accuracy: Validate loss compensation and instrument transformer accuracy calculations used for energy registration.
  • Protocol and Settlement Metering Operating Guides: Ensure that electric energy production and consumption for EPS metering facilities are metered per Protocol and Settlement Metering Operating Guides (SMOG) requirements.
  • Site Audits and Inspections: Perform site audits of EPS metering facilities to ensure inspection, certification, and documentation of EPS metering installations are in compliance with the Protocols.
  • Authorized Meter Inspector Procedures: Perform audits and inspections of Authorized Meter Inspectors procedures to ensure compliance with Protocols and metering standards.
  • Temporary Exemption Requests: Assist in the review and approval process for temporary exemption requests from Protocol requirements for EPS metering facilities.
  • Systems Development and Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of ERCOT metering protocols and business procedures consistent with SB7 and ERCOT business rules.
  • Expertise and Knowledge Sharing: Develop expertise in procedures and business rules related to EPS meter data acquisition, generation aggregation, generation registration, and generation settlements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Clearly communicate complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner, and work well independently and exhibit decision-making abilities.
Requirements
  • Experience: Prefer experience in electricity metering (required for higher-level positions).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields.
Work Environment

This position is hybrid, with the majority of job duties performed remotely from your Texas residence. May be required to be on-site at the Taylor or Austin facilities at least once a month, or more based on business needs and as determined by the Manager.
