About the Role

At Mortenson, we're seeking an experienced Power Studies Design Engineer IV to join our team. This role is responsible for studying and designing the latest utility-scale wind, solar, and storage generation facilities and their interconnection to the grid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform power system studies, including short circuit, reactive power, losses, arc flash, Transient Over Voltage (TOV), or Harmonics using software like PSSE, PSCAD, and ETAP.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to support phasor domain and time domain simulations.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Interface and present to multiple stakeholders, including customer decision-makers and project teams.
  • Conduct data analysis and basic engineering calculations required for designs from low voltage through 500 kV substations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years in the electrical power industry.
  • Minimum 4+ years of related work experience in power system studies, including time domain simulations.
  • Graduate of a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related Engineering program.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or achievement of PE within 6 months of entering this role.
