Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the State Hospital South (SHS) Patient Treatment Facility (PTF) in Blackfoot, Idaho.

About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs. This role involves observing, recording, and reporting patients' treatment, care, symptoms, physical and mental condition, behavior, and progress.

Responsibilities:
  • Administer prescribed medications, including intramuscular injections, and observe for adverse reactions.
  • Perform treatments, such as changing sterile dressings, inserting nasal gastric tubes, catheterizations, and removing sutures.
  • Interview patients to obtain health information and instruct and counsel patients regarding basic health needs.
  • Teach patients and their families the importance of proper diet, proper positioning, range-of-motion exercises, transfer techniques, and personal hygiene procedures.
  • Chart administered medications, symptoms, accidents, unusual behavior, doctors' visits, and observed side effects of drugs.
  • Order lab and x-ray work under physicians' orders.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess a state license as a Practical Nurse or state licensure as a Practical Nurse pursuant to the Nurse Licensure Compact State, Idaho Code.
