Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Surgery

This is a Full Time position at 40 hours per week located at McHenry clinic and will require occasional travel to Huntley.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in Cardiovascular Surgery to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift.
  • Identify changes in patient's physiological condition and communicate with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Communicate directly with patient and family about nursing care.
  • Provide clinical interventions to meet patient needs.
  • Document the nursing process.
  • Assimilate information from multiple sources and implement appropriate action plan to provide safe, quality care.
  • Assure safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff.
Clinical:
  • Demonstrate clinical competence in Cardiovascular Surgery.
  • Provide direct patient care and direct patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of assigned patients and their significant others biopsychosocial and learning needs.
  • Contribute to plan of care in coordination with patient care coordinator as appropriate.
  • Implement appropriate actions to respond to needs of patients and patients significant others.
  • Monitor and document the patient's response to therapeutic interventions and progress toward outcomes.
  • Demonstrate cost-effective approach to patient care in terms of equipment, supplies, and all other resources.
  • In all areas of practice, follow established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.

  • Demonstrate professional attributes, including a professional image in appearance, manner, and presentation.
  • Be an advocate for patients and their significant others, co-workers, the community, and the nursing profession.

Qualifications:
  • Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligible in the State of Illinois.
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR card.
  • One year of experience in Cardiovascular Surgery preferred.
