Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Protection and Control Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical power systems, including protection and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and implement electrical power systems, including protection and control systems.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation for electrical power systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and support to field crews and outside contractors.
- Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in electrical power systems.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering/power systems general properties and fundamentals.
- Five or more years' experience at an electric utility.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of power distribution engineering.
- Understanding of basic distribution system fusing and relaying.
- Understanding of the basics of power system protection.
- Understanding of inverse time characteristic curves and protection coordination studies.
- Understanding of DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, and ICCP protocols.
- Knowledge of SEL-RTAC and Novatech Orion equipment.
- Knowledge of distribution system grounding and effects on fault detection.
- Knowledge of RUS rules and regulations and the National Electric Safety Code.
- Working knowledge of computer programs such as NISC, Milsoft, ESRI, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
- Obtained or pursuing registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Five or more years' experience at an electric utility.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of power distribution engineering.
- Understanding of basic distribution system fusing and relaying.
- Understanding of the basics of power system protection.
- Understanding of inverse time characteristic curves and protection coordination studies.
- Understanding of DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, and ICCP protocols.
- Knowledge of SEL-RTAC and Novatech Orion equipment.
- Knowledge of distribution system grounding and effects on fault detection.
