This is a full-time role within the Law Enforcement Division of the Supreme Court of the United States.
Salary Range: $81,552 - $139,419. This range applies to candidates currently serving as federal, state, or municipal law enforcement personnel with a minimum of one year of full-duty experience post-training. The initial salary will be established based on the verification of the current annual base salary along with locality pay.
Eligibility
This position is open to:
- U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or individuals who owe allegiance to the United States.
The Law Enforcement Division of the Supreme Court is a federal agency empowered by United States Code 40 U.S.C. This division is tasked with enforcing federal and District of Columbia laws and regulations, alongside those governing the Supreme Court Building and grounds as mandated by the Marshal and sanctioned by the Chief Justice. The mission is to uphold the integrity of the Supreme Court's constitutional duties by safeguarding the Court, its Justices, employees, guests, and visitors.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Securing the Supreme Court Building and its surroundings, as well as the individuals and property within;
- Providing dignitary protection for the Supreme Court Justices, both nationally and internationally;
- Maintaining appropriate order and decorum within the Supreme Court premises, including managing demonstrations and large events;
- Ensuring courtroom security;
- Preparing various reports such as incident, found property, accident, and arrest reports, and providing testimony in court.

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Successful completion (or willingness to complete) the Uniformed Police Training Program (UPTP) at FLETC.
- Currently employed as a federal, state, or municipal law enforcement officer with at least one year of full-duty service after training.
- Applicants must demonstrate maturity, reliability, and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must exhibit a high standard of ethical conduct and be trustworthy in all professional situations.
- No record of felony convictions or pending criminal charges.
- Must hold a valid driver's license for at least one year at the time of application, with an excellent driving record.
- U.S. citizenship by birth or naturalization is required.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old but not older than 39 at the time of application, with some exceptions for prior federal law enforcement experience.
A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement for applicants who meet the other eligibility criteria.
Benefits
Working for the Supreme Court Law Enforcement Division provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, life insurance, health insurance, premium pay, and eligibility for retirement after 20 years of service at age 50, or 25 years of service at any age.
- Recruitment Bonus: $5,000 upon appointment, with an additional $5,000 after 18 months of service, contingent upon a two-year service agreement.
- Sick Leave: 104 hours of sick leave accrued annually without limit.
- Annual Leave: Accrual rates increase with years of service, starting at 13 days per year.
- Overtime: Eligible for monetary pay or compensatory time at a rate of 1.5 times the hourly pay.
- Paid Parental Leave: Up to 12 weeks of paid leave following the birth or placement of a child.
- Retirement: Access to a special retirement program for law enforcement personnel, including a defined-benefit plan and Thrift Savings Plan.
