Supervisor: Head Chef
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Food Service Utility Associate is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of food service areas, equipment, and facilities. This role may also involve assisting with food preparation and the management of food and non-food supplies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties: (Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary) The ideal candidate will be expected to:
- Consistently uphold community standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
- Adhere to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards at all times.
- Engage in kitchen tasks including the setup and breakdown of the dishwashing system, washing dishes and pots, performing general cleaning duties, and assisting in the storage of food and supplies.
- Support serving staff by setting tables and workstation areas, as well as clearing tables after service.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment, work surfaces, and kitchen areas.
- Understand and follow dietary guidelines as outlined in company policies.
- Regularly empty trash containers as needed.
- Participate in training and educational sessions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred experience includes at least 6 months in a utility or dishwashing role.
Ability to comprehend and follow instructions in English is essential.
Capability to set up and operate dishwashing equipment effectively.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and understanding the English language.
Hands-on experience in kitchen organization and preparation.
Ability to work collaboratively with all Culinary Services staff.
Familiarity with local Health Department regulations, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Effective inter-departmental communication and teamwork abilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Capable of pushing and pulling weights up to 50 lbs. as needed.
Ability to climb, reach, bend, and twist as required.
Expected to stand and walk for 3-8 hours daily (combined).
Frequent handling of food items is required.
Work is performed indoors.
Must be able to maneuver bus carts and tray carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
Ability to perform sweeping and mopping tasks with ease.
May encounter rapid temperature changes from ovens and freezers, as well as exposure to industrial cleaning chemicals and hot water regularly.
