The EDM Technician I role is an entry-level position that does not require prior certification. The primary objective for an individual in this role is to acquire knowledge and training in the fundamental aspects of all EDM-specific operations. Technicians are expected to set up and operate various EDM machinery to manufacture precision components under the guidance of a more experienced EDM technician (level II or higher). This role involves adhering to established standard operating procedures while working under general supervision to achieve verification within a specified timeframe. Typically, any issues or deviations are referred to more seasoned technicians, including Lead Technicians, supervisors, or engineers.

Sign-On Bonus:

External candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire skills in setting up and operating computerized EDM centers following standard operating procedures.
  • Learn to adjust machine feed rates and tool changes according to EDM specifications.
  • Develop the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Understand and implement quality testing methodologies. Gain proficiency in inspecting products using precision measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrate competence in manufacturing documentation and labor transactions.
  • Accurately complete production records and perform necessary labor transactions.
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and continuous improvement guidelines as directed by leadership.
  • Engage actively in continuous improvement initiatives and safety-related activities.
  • Work beyond standard hours as needed to fulfill business requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including extended shifts or overtime as necessary.
  • Be prepared to work non-standard hours and potentially during holidays based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is typically required. In the absence of a diploma or GED, two years of relevant experience is necessary.

  • A background in manufacturing is preferred.
  • Manual dexterity for tasks related to assembly and calibration.
  • Ability to learn to read and comprehend technical drawings.
