Job Title: Radiology Tech

At Huggins Hospital, we are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our team. As a Radiology Tech, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians and other licensed medical providers with direct patient care and conducting routine X-ray procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the Electronic Health Record to complete documented Best Practice Workflows accurately.
  • Document and update patient medical history within EMR guidelines.
  • Complete daily work lists, including order tracking, tasking, and document import.
  • Ensure timely reporting and charging of X-rays.
  • Properly archive computed and digital images on Synapse.
  • Scan documents in a timely manner.
  • Push X-ray images to other hospitals per policy.
  • Burn CDs and enter tech notes into each exam completed.
  • Perform physician laboratory order review for completeness and medical necessity.
  • Perform electronic and/or manual order entry and review ABNs with patients.
  • Conduct CLIA waived testing in accordance with regulations and department best practices.
  • Maintain competency as required by CLIA regulations and Laboratory policy.
  • Participate in Laboratory Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality Improvement policies and projects.
Patient Access Functions:
  • Accept and return patient calls under the supervision of the nurse or provider.
  • Schedule appointments and complete orders for patients.
  • Prepare examination rooms with needed supplies and maintain a clean environment.
  • Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Prepare, instruct, and position patients for exams.
  • Ensure providers are on schedule and mindful of emergencies.
  • Obtain patient samples in accordance with regulations and best practices.
  • Perform sample processing, including quality assessment, centrifugation, and storage.
  • Prepare specimens and documentation for processing or transportation.
  • Ensure proper sample labeling and disposal of used supplies.
  • Provide age-appropriate instructions to patients for optimal specimen collection.
  • Keep drug closets clean and organized.
  • Dispose of expired medications or sample medications per pharmacy procedures.
  • Call orders to pharmacies under the direction of the provider.
  • Complete and process HMO referrals, pre-certifications, or pre-approvals as needed.
  • Confirm patient identity with two identifiers.
Radiology Functions:
  • Operate fixed radiographic equipment according to specifications and policies.
  • Perform traumas according to policies.
  • Perform X-rays in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Use appropriate shielding at all times.
  • Address safety concerns immediately to the Manager of Medical Imaging.
  • Properly clean and store lead irons according to protocol.
Clinical Direct Functions:
  • Document patient chief complaint, medical history, and complete pertinent forms.
  • Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture in accordance with regulations and best practices.
  • Perform capillary blood collection in accordance with regulations and best practices.
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary collections using age-appropriate technique.
  • Perform EKGs, PFTs, rapid strep, pregnancy tests, and other tests ordered by the provider.
  • Assist in minor procedures, such as pap smears, suturing, dressing changes, catheterizations, and casting.
  • Practice aseptic and sterile techniques as needed.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a provider and in accordance with license.
  • Provide patients with educational materials as requested by the provider.
  • Keep drug closets clean and organized.

  • Maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and visitors at all times.
  • Practice workplace safety daily.
Job Requirements:
  • Registered with the ARRT.
  • RT required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Registered with the New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively manage considerable mental stress.
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and convey information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Familiarity with computer and other business machines.
