This role offers a unique chance to engage directly in the fabrication of various orthotic and prosthetic devices.

You will collaborate closely with clinicians and patients to adjust and repair devices by crafting orthoses and their components. This position is primarily workshop-based, requiring strong hand skills and familiarity with hand tools.

The ideal candidate will possess experience with band saws, drill presses, vacuum systems, heat guns, blades, speed routers, and other small hand tools.


Your Contributions:
  • Utilize appropriate hand tools for the fabrication and repair of orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
  • Handle ordering, receiving, and other inventory tasks as assigned.
  • Fit and deliver prefabricated and off-the-shelf orthoses, including cervical orthoses, pressure gradient hose, and trusses.
  • Educate patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcomes for DME products as per physician instructions and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Contact vendors to procure orthotic fabrication materials and maintain inventory of items used during the fabrication process.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Technical training or 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

Additional Success Factors:
  • Knowledge and skills to fabricate and repair prostheses (artificial limbs) and orthoses (orthopedic braces) according to patient specifications and in compliance with physician prescriptions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination for safe and effective use of laboratory tools.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Integrity in all interactions, maintaining honesty, transparency, and respect.
