Position Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our Lab Operations team as a Temporary Laboratory Technician 2. This role involves executing high-throughput greenhouse experiments, including planting, harvesting, and managing materials for greenhouse activities. You will also be responsible for processing soil samples, preparing slurries, and conducting subsampling for various analyses, ensuring precision and accuracy in all tasks. Maintaining an organized and clean workspace is essential, as is the ability to meet strict deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, along with proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting. This position offers a valuable opportunity to collaborate with experts in agriculture, analytics, microbiome studies, and molecular biology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee greenhouse experiments, including planting, monitoring, and harvesting.
  • Process soil samples efficiently, including preparation, slurry creation, and subsampling for analysis.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in both greenhouse and laboratory settings.
  • Accurately document data and maintain detailed logs of experiments.
  • Manage inventory of materials required for greenhouse and lab tasks.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and refining experimental procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the lab operations team.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous roles.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Highly organized, capable of maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Ability to meticulously follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Basic knowledge of life sciences, chemistry, or related fields; college coursework in these areas is preferred.
  • Experience with pipetting and general laboratory equipment is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a laboratory or greenhouse setting is a plus.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs.
  • Requires standing for extended periods in a physically demanding environment.
