Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician I

Indiana University Health is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician I to join our team. As a Sterile Processing Technician I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by maintaining and processing medical equipment and instruments.

Job Summary:

As a Sterile Processing Technician I, you will be responsible for cleaning, wrapping, sterilizing, storing, and distributing equipment, supplies, and instruments used in patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and process medical equipment and instruments to ensure they are free from contamination and ready for use.
  • Wrap and sterilize equipment and instruments using various methods, including autoclaving and dry heat sterilization.
  • Store and distribute equipment and instruments in a clean and organized manner.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure equipment and instruments meet safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure equipment and instruments are available when needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of coursework towards certification within 2 years of hire date.
  • 12 CE credits annually in aseptic techniques, medical terminology, or a healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Some experience in basic aseptic techniques, medical terminology, or a healthcare environment preferred.
