Responsibilities- Efficiently manage patient care with a focus on length of stay and transitions of care.
- Lead inpatient initiatives aimed at enhancing overall quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
- Conduct academic bedside teaching rounds with a strong emphasis on supervising and evaluating medical residents.
- Perform rounds on medical wards to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct thorough patient history and physical examinations upon hospital admission.
- Consultatively oversee the care of patients across various units.
- Provide detailed and high-quality documentation in medical records, ensuring timely completion of encounters.
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
Residency Training:
Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty program, leading to eligibility for board certification.
Approved residencies include:
(1) Programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), OR (2) Programs accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), OR (3) Other residency programs (non-US residency training followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States).
Must hold a current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Active AHA BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
Candidates must be able to successfully pass a Federal background investigation.
Physical Requirements:
All candidates must be capable of:
- Sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulders during their work shift.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
- Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Carrying up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Pushing/pulling with 30 lbs of force.
