Since its inception in 1970, Hale Kipa has been a steadfast advocate for the youth of Hawai'i. Our organization offers a range of services including youth outreach, independent living facilities, therapeutic foster care, and support for runaways. Our founders identified a critical need for a nonprofit organization to assist this deserving demographic, and we continue to fulfill that mission across O'ahu, Kaua'i, and the Island of Hawai'i.
Position Summary
We are currently seeking committed Residential Support Staff to provide essential support to youth and young adults aged 17 1⁄2 to 21 who are transitioning from the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility or have experienced involvement with the Juvenile Justice system. The Residential Support Staff will be responsible for managing crisis situations, creating a stable and nurturing environment, and guiding youth and young adults through their personal challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating youth engagement in structured programs that encompass chores, meals, leisure activities, financial literacy, and job development.
- Conducting discussions with youth to assist in emotional processing, promoting healthy coping strategies, and establishing clear boundaries.
- Transporting youth to job interviews, grocery shopping, and medical appointments, as well as assisting with benefits applications.
- Completing intake processes and maintaining accurate documentation, including electronic health records.
- Ensuring the security of the property and conducting regular safety checks.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders and representing Hale Kipa in a professional manner.
- Participating in scheduled staff meetings and supervision sessions with the Program Manager.
Work Schedule:
Sunday - Thursday: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM OR 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Experience working with youth or young adults is highly preferred.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license.
- Current auto insurance and safety check.
Compensation
- Hourly wage: $17.00
- Retention Bonus: $500 after one year of employment.
