The CMO unit is an observation and inpatient unit with a fast patient turnover. The staff focuses more on acuity than continuity.

Key staffing ratios include 5 nurses, 3 techs, 5 patients for nurse. Occasionally, the ratio may be 4 nurses, 3 techs, 3 nurses with 6 patients, and one nurse may have an increased ratio, which is rotated between nurses to help with burnout.

Block scheduling is available, but not guaranteed. If a nurse joins the unit in the middle of a scheduling period, they will be plugged into holes. Next scheduling period is when they can have block schedule.

Shift Requirements: 3x12 Nights 7p-7a; Every other weekend

Certification Requirements: ACLS, BLS required
