About the Job

The Director of Development is a key leadership position responsible for driving fundraising efforts to support the Bell Theater's operations and artistic programs. This role requires a strategic thinker who can develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, build strong relationships with community stakeholders, and manage corporate and individual leads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement a Fundraising Plan: Design and execute a comprehensive annual development funding plan to maintain the organization's fiscal health and secure future financial resources.
  • Build Community Relationships: Foster a positive image of the Bell Theater within the community, establishing strong relationships with companies, civic organizations, and state and federal arts programs.
  • Manage Donor and Funding Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for funding, donations, and fundraising event inquiries.
  • Database Management: Collect, organize, and maintain accurate records of donors and funding received, creating funding targets for the board of directors and establishing tracking tools and monthly reports.
  • Event Planning and Management: Collaborate with fundraising event chairs to manage the production and oversight of fundraising events, developing and managing event timelines, budgets, and evaluations.
  • Marketing and Outreach: Work with the Marketing Team to design and produce annual giving campaigns and auxiliary marketing materials.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Management or leadership experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and direct others
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of grant writing
  • Some knowledge of different CMS platforms
  • Event planning capabilities

A Bachelor's degree in nonprofit administration, business administration, communications, or a similar field is preferred.
