POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide assistance with library resources and services in a friendly and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address patron inquiries via telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Organize library materials and ensure proper shelf arrangement.
  • Process check-outs and returns of library materials using an automated system.
  • Manage the receipt, sorting, and processing of delivery items.
  • Prepare items for the Hold Shelf.
  • Redirect circulation materials to other library branches.
  • Register new patrons and issue library cards.
  • Collect fines and fees associated with library services.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and development days.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • May also include: Ordering supplies, processing periodicals, mending and cleaning books or audiovisual items, managing library materials orders and invoices, creating records, updating holdings in an automated system, processing library system mail, and maintaining databases.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires the ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, talk, listen, and lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs. on a daily basis. Occasional sitting may be required. Close vision, distant vision, color distinction, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills, including typing and keyboarding.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with staff and the public.
  • Capability to comprehend and execute instructions.
  • Availability for evening and weekend shifts is required.

COMPENSATION: Part-Time $15.00 per hour, 24 hours per week.

CLOSING: Position will remain open until filled.
