Position Summary:

The School is in search of a dedicated and skilled Educational Counselor to enhance the well-being of our students. This role is crucial in promoting the academic, social, and emotional health of the student body. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in counseling and a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive educational atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Student Counseling and Support:
    • Offer both individual and group counseling sessions to assist students with personal, social, emotional, and academic challenges.
    • Design and execute intervention strategies aimed at helping students navigate obstacles and achieve academic success.
    • Guide students in establishing personal and academic objectives, providing support in their pursuit.
    • Assist students in crisis situations, delivering immediate support and connecting them with external resources as needed.
  2. Academic and Career Counseling:
    • Help students formulate academic plans that resonate with their aspirations and interests.
    • Provide insights and assistance regarding college and career pathways, ensuring students are aware of their options.
    • Collaborate with educators to identify students requiring additional academic support and create suitable intervention strategies.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Engage with teachers, administrators, and parents to promote student success and address any issues.
    • Participate in student support teams, IEP meetings, and other collaborative initiatives to ensure comprehensive student care.
    • Maintain transparent communication with parents and guardians, keeping them updated on their child's progress and any concerns.
  4. Program Development:
    • Create and deliver classroom sessions on topics such as social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
    • Plan and execute school-wide initiatives that foster a positive school environment and tackle issues like bullying and mental health awareness.
    • Coordinate with community organizations to provide additional resources and support for students and their families.
  5. Record Keeping:
    • Keep accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
    • Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations regarding student privacy and counseling services.
    • Prepare necessary reports and documentation as required by school administration.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Counseling.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in a counseling or educational environment.
  • Strong grasp of child development, social-emotional learning, and academic guidance.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with students, parents, educators, and administrators.
